Asheville Art: The City and the Smokies
Asheville, North Carolina
“This painting of Asheville is more than just a landscape—it’s an homage to that spirit, a tribute to the beauty of this place and the power of its people to rebuild and rise stronger than ever.”
TOPHER STRAUS

The city and the Smokies
Topher began Asheville early in 2024, looking for a way to hold the creativity and community of the city. When Hurricane Helene’s floods hit that fall, it became a tribute to the people rebuilding it. It debuted at Momentum Gallery in December 2025, with part of its proceeds pledged to local relief.
An hour to the west, Great Smoky Mountains National Park layers the ridges in shades of blue, with fog between them and stars above. Farther up the Blue Ridge, Shenandoah National Park carries the same mountains into Virginia.
