Great Lakes dunes paintings by Topher Straus
Great Lakes dunes
Topher Straus paints the dunes of Lake Michigan: Indiana Dunes with Chicago rising across the water, and Sleeping Bear Dunes rolling into turquoise lake in Michigan.

“Sleeping Bear Dunes felt like a place where land breathes. I painted this to reflect the softness, the story, and the silence of this sacred shore.”

Michigan

About the dunes of Lake Michigan
Sleeping Bear Dunes rises as much as 450 feet above Lake Michigan on Michigan’s northwest coast; an Ojibwe story tells of a mother bear waiting on the shore for her two cubs, who became the Manitou Islands offshore. At the lake’s southern tip, Indiana Dunes became a national park in 2019, and on clear days the Chicago skyline appears across the water.
