About Maui
Maui is built from two volcanoes joined by a low isthmus. Haleakalā, the larger, rises 10,023 feet, and its summit sunrises above the clouds draw visitors before dawn. On the North Shore, Paia is a former sugar plantation town and the gateway to the Road to Hana.
