“Rainier commands the horizon—massive, quiet, radiant. I painted this to feel that singular moment when the mountain meets the sky with grace.”

Where each painting stands

Every painting begins with a real place.

Mount Rainier

The volcano commanding the horizon in Mount Rainier National Park.

The Olympic Peninsula

Three worlds in one in Olympic National Park.

About Rainier and Olympic

At 14,410 feet, Mount Rainier is the most heavily glaciated peak in the lower 48 states, and on a clear day it fills the southern sky over Seattle and Tacoma. Olympic National Park, on the peninsula to the west, protects nearly a million acres in three very different worlds: the glaciers of Mount Olympus, the moss-hung Hoh Rain Forest, and more than seventy miles of wild Pacific coast. The two paintings follow that same split, one mountain and one peninsula.
